As part of the centenary celebration of Town Campus a series of events or initiatives happened this year.
The Department of Chaplaincy conducted the thanksgiving service in Tamil and English on reminiscences of the chaplaincy department in Town Campus on 8th June and Thanksgiving service in English on 9th June 2024 on the following theme ‘Great is thy Faithfulness, to commemorate the 100 years of dedicated service, medical excellence, and unwavering commitment to community health of CMC Vellore Town Campus.
The services, attended by faculty, students, alumni, and esteemed guests, was a heartfelt celebration of the institution’s rich history and achievements. The event began with an invocation and a welcome address, followed by hymns and prayers reflecting the spiritual foundation upon which CMC Vellore was established. Speeches and presentations highlighted the milestones of the past century, honoring the vision of founder Dr. Ida Scudder and the contributions of countless individuals who have shaped the institution’s journey.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS), CMC Vellore initiative to provide quality ambulance transfer for people of Vellore and Ranipet districts, inaugurated by Vellore Collector, Tmt. V R Subbulaxmi, on 18th July 2024; first of various initiatives to celebrate centenary of CMC Vellore Town Campus.
Fleet of 10 ambulances including 6 Advanced Life Support ambulances for patients requiring life support; resuscitation and safe transportation by trained paramedics. Emergency Department doctors involved in transfer of critically ill for both pre-hospital retrieval & inter-hospital transfer.
The inauguration of emergency medical ambulance services at the CMC Vellore Town Campus marks a significant enhancement in the healthcare facilities offered by this renowned institution.
The new ambulance services are expected to provide rapid and efficient medical response to emergencies within Vellore and surrounding areas, ensuring timely transportation of patients to the hospital for critical care.
These ambulance services will be equipped with advanced life-saving equipment and staffed by trained medical professionals, ready to handle various emergencies. The inauguration of these services aligns with CMC Vellore’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare and expanding its reach to better serve the community.
The adult immunisation clinic is inaugurated on 1st August 2024, The aim of this clinic is provided safe and easy to access vaccination services for the staff and the public. The clinic also aims to increase vaccination awareness, reduce vaccination hesitancy among the staff and public. The clinic provides follow up services for patients who need multiple doses such as Rabies post exposure prophylaxis and those who need annual vaccinations.
The vaccines available for health care workers are Varicella (2 doses), MMR, Influenza yearly, Hepatitis B and Tetanus toxoid. This initiative reflects CMC Vellore’s commitment to comprehensive healthcare, emphasizing the importance of prevention in addition to treatment.
As part of the institution’s centenary celebrations for the Town Campus (1924-2024), the Office of the Medical Superintendent organised a Health Check-Up and Health Awareness Camp for Ambulance and Auto drivers on the 10th of August 2024. The attending number was 108, of which 36 were auto drivers and 72 ambulance drivers.
Health camps for auto and ambulance drivers in Vellore aim to provide medical check-ups and a session promoting health and wellbeing for drivers,
encouraging them to adopt healthier practices such as walking and exercising regularly, getting good sleep and increasing water intake, avoiding food and beverages with high sugar content, overcoming negative habits such as smoking and excessive mobile usage, and decreasing stress levels by developing a positive outlook on life.
The Green Wave initiative at CMC Vellore involves the planting of trees across all its campuses, aiming to promote environmental sustainability, planning to plant more than 10,000 saplings and contribute to the fight against climate change. This effort not only enhances the greenery within the campuses but also fosters a sense of environmental responsibility among the staff, students, and community members. By participating in this initiative, CMC Vellore is taking active steps to reduce its carbon footprint and create a healthier, more sustainable environment for future generations.
A million trees, a million dreams: cultivating a legacy across all CMC Campuses.
Heritage lecture series started on 7th September 2024. This series will give the departments an opportunity to share their history, milestones, inspiring anecdotes, future plans and dreams with the community, especially our students who will carry the torch forward.
