The Department of General Pathology, also known as the Norman Institute of Pathology, is a premier diagnostic centre in India, committed to provide comprehensive and state-of-art diagnostic services to CMC Hospital, its ancillary departments and also to other private and Government hospitals and clinics in the country. 

In keeping with the vision statement of Christian Medical College, the department strives to achieve excellence in teaching as well as research via its training programs for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, allied health science courses and the numerous research projects undertaken independently and also in collaboration with other departments at CMC hospital.
