Hospital Management Studies

The Department was started on November 14, 2009 towards its objective of assessing and addressing the training requirements of staff in CMC and teaching management related subjects including hospital management to students & staff from CMC and other colleges using intramural and extramural faculty. The department is headed by Dr. Samuel N.J. David.

Mission

The primary concern of the Christian Medical College, Vellore is to develop through education and training, compassionate, professionally excellent, ethically sound individuals who will go out as servant-leaders of health teams and healing communities

Services

Conducting training need analysis for various categories of staff.

Interacting with supervisors/HODs as part of the training need analysis and to identify the areas where training is required for their staff.

Train staff of various categories using internal and external resource persons.

Co-ordinating and conducting various institutional workshops, conferences, etc.

Co-ordinate and teach on various management programmes (PGDHA, FHA, M. Phil, PGDHEHP&FM) in CMC and in the other organizations like BITS with whom we have a collaborative programme namely M. Phil in Hospital Health Systems Management, BITS Pilani.

Co-ordinate and teach on various management subjects and modules for M.Sc. Nursing, B.M.R.Sc., B.Sc. Critical Care, B.Sc. Optometry, B.Sc. Radiology, B.Sc. Nuclear Medicine, B.Sc. Radiation Therapy, B.Sc. Anaesthesia Technology courses.

Apart from guiding our institutional students, the department also guides a number of management interns from other organisation/institution who do their project work with us.

Provides consultancy services in the area of hospital administration to hospitals which share our purpose statement and mission focus.

Administration (PGDHA) certified by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS)
Mumbai and Christian Medical College Vellore. – one year full time programme.

(MHA) with affiliation from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai
– two year full time programme.

and Accredited by Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore – three year full time

Management (HHSM) by Birla

Institute of Technology and Sciences
(BITS), Pilani, CMC Vellore and Bombay Hospital Mumbai and accredited by BITS,
Pilani. This is a 4 semesters, collaborative, Work-Integrated Learning
Programme (Distance mode) with virtual online classes and 20 days of Hospital
Immersion Component at CMC Vellore & Bombay Hospital, Mumbai. (Previously
was offered as a 2 year M.Phil HHSM programme)

5. Diploma in Hospital Administration
(DHA) with Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI), New Delhi – one year
distance mode.

6. Executive Diploma in Healthcare
Management (EDHM) with Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA),
Chennai, Tamil Nadu – one year weekend course.

Training & Education – MITE (Gives opportunities for mission hospitals
& management students to work towards major projects benefiting mission
hospitals).

4. Empowered to Excel as Efficient
Leaders – EXCEL (2 days/ management workshop to develop existing and new
leaders).

5. NABH Consultation (assistance to
small hospitals for obtaining NABH accreditation through certified staff and
management students/interns of our department/ Institution).

D. Internship Training Programme

Undergraduate & post graduate students and interns from various
colleges & institutes are provided opportunities for internship posting,
dissertation & project thesis in the areas of management studies, social
work & Bio-Medical Engineering in various department of CMC.

E. Classes for
Allied Health Sciences

The department faculty also take classes in
Medical Ethics, Hospital Operation Management, Principles of Management and
General Management for CMC Allied Health Science students of courses such as,
Bachelor of Science in Critical Care Technology, Bachelor of Science in Medical
Record Science (BMRSc), Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology,
Bachelor of Sciences in Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology, Bachelor
in Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO), Bachelor of Science in Radiology & Imaging
Technology and Bachelor of Science in Radiotherapy Technology.
