Orthopaedics

The Department of Orthopaedics is dedicated to the surgical treatment of a wide range of orthopaedic conditions. It comprises three general units as well as three specialized units: Spinal Disorders, Paediatric Orthopaedic, and Hand Surgery. These units work closely together to provide comprehensive care to patients. The department is currently staffed by 17 professors, 45 consultants, and 36 post-graduate trainees. Each year, we perform approximately 7500 surgical procedures, in addition to 2,000 daycare surgeries. Outpatient clinics are held from Monday to Saturday, and emergency care is available around the clock in the Emergency Services. The department is also actively involved in research, with multiple ongoing projects in collaboration with other departments, including Anatomy, Physiology, Hematology, Bioengineering, and Pathology. In addition, we conduct outreach programs, including outpatient clinics and surgical camps in peripheral areas, often in partnership with mission hospitals. Our core priorities are dedicated patient care, clinical teaching, and advancing research. Recently, we expanded our services with the inauguration of a new campus in Ranipet, which  now operates as a Level I trauma center, offering specialized trauma care
