Ranipet Campus
Kannigapuram in Ranipet District was an unfamiliar name of a village in Vellore. Today it is the venue of the new CMC hospital under construction. Sometime in 2005, the then administration led by Director Dr George Chandy felt the need of a new campus to cater to the rapidly growing number of patients. The mother campus at Thottapalayam which was built between 1927 and 1932 was not enough for the burgeoning patient load that was building up year after year. The planning that commenced in 2013 to build a 1500-bed campus has culminated in the commencement of a multi-specialty hospital and teaching facility, with the groundbreaking ceremony on the 20th of December 2016, followed by a bricklaying ceremony exactly one month later.
A residential campus for the doctors is located adjacent to the hospital and it is complete with amenities, including a primary school.
The services that have moved into the Ranipet Campus include those disciplines that attract larger number of patients from outside Vellore. Neurosciences, Cardio Pulmonary Sciences, Integrated Cancer Care, Renal Sciences, Haematology and a multilevel intensive care are available in the new campus. The Level 1 Trauma Care Facility with dedicated ambulance entry has started functioning at the CMC Vellore Ranipet Campus. The facility is located on the ground floor of Block D, co-located with the Cardiac Care Unit. It includes an Emergency Bay, 6 state-of-the-art trauma operation theatres, a radiology suite and 112 ward & ICU beds.
There are plans for further expansion that include a low-cost residential facility for relatives of patients and the paediatric super-specialty block.
