The 22nd Dr. A.S. Fenn Surgical CME Programme (2024)

Organised by the Department of General Surgery at Christian Medical College Vellore, this year’s Annual General Surgery CME was conducted between October 17 to 19, 2024. Named in honour of Dr. A.S. Fenn, a pioneering surgeon and former Head of the Surgery Department at CMC Vellore, this annual event aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of postgraduate students in General Surgery.

Over 150 postgraduate students from medical colleges across India participated in this conference. The programme featured clinical case discussions, panel discussions, and symposiums by esteemed faculty from reputed institutes, addressing a variety of surgical issues across multiple disciplines. Keynote lectures were delivered by senior surgeons, including Dr. Santhosh John Abraham, former President of the Association of Surgeons of India, and Dr. Vikram Kate, Dean of Research at JIPMER, Puducherry, focusing on surgical education and research. Additionally, the Dr. John S. Carman Oration was delivered by Dr. Ramesh Ardhanari, Senior Surgical Gastroenterologist and former President of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology.

This programme provided a valuable platform for all the attendees to exchange knowledge and expertise in the field of surgery. The programme received positive feedback from all the delegates and the visiting faculty.
