Turning of the Sod of Paediatric Speciality Centre at CMC Vellore Ranipet Campus

The Centre, Phase 2 of the CMC Vellore Ranipet Campus and a long-time dream of the institution, is coming to fruition owing to the generous support of Prem Watsa of the Canada-based Fairfax Financial Holdings and Ajit Isaac of the Bengaluru-based Quess Corp.

Work on our Paediatric Super Speciality Centre – worldclass paediatric quartenary-care facility – to start on Monday the 12th, with the traditional ‘Turning of the Sod’ ceremony. State-of-the-art medical and surgical centre with 350 beds, slated for opening in 2026.

Adult immunisation Clinic inaugurated by Dr P Balachander, Joint Director, Medical & Rural Health Services, Vellore; second of various initiatives for people of #vellore as part of Centenary celebrations of CMC Vellore Town Campus (1924 – 2024)

CMC played leading role in polio eradication in Vellore; procured polio vaccine from UK with help of Vellore branch of Rotary International and initiated mass polio vaccination in ’67; by ’83, Vellore polio-free thanks to pioneering efforts of CMC’s Jacob John, aided by Rotary and Tamil Nadu government. TN, one of first states in India to eradicate polio; vaccine facility at King’s Institute, Guindy, in ’48; universal immunisation program in ’78; mass measles vaccination in ’73. Clinic, run by Medicine department and Staff Clinic, also provides services for CMC’s healthcare.
